The new German Army issue flecktarn KSK smock, ripstop, is a highly advanced jacket with a wealth of features to enhance performance in the field. Developed for use by special forces, deep infiltration ops and professional infantrist use, the KSK smock is made to strict German military standards in windblocking 88% cotton, 12% polyester ripstop blend with water repellent finish. The features of the jacket include: removable wired hood, high wind baffle for neck, Cordura reinforced elbows with removable padding. The jacket has 13 pockets: two bulgy chest pockets, four bulgy lower front and side pockets, one large bulgy rear pockets, zip open dump pockets on left and right, bulgy right arm pocket, flat left arm pocket, two zip open internal pockets on chest. A zipper is provided on the left side for quick access to the interior of the jacket without having to open the jacket. The jacket has velcro patches above each chest pocket for name tapes and a central commando style patch for rank patch. The arms also have velcro patches at the top for removable nationality and unit insignia, and the flat left pocket also has velcro for additional insignia. The cuffs close with velcro to allow for full adjustability and draughtproofing. Drawstrings with adjustable toggles are provided on the waist and at the bottom hem to draw the jacket tight around the legs for further draughtproofing. A drawstring is provided on the hood, with adjustable toggle. The rear of the hood has a velcro tab for adjusting the height of the hood, particularly if being used in the prone position. This helps to prevent the hood from falling over the face and obscuring vision. The jacket has large underarm zippers left and right for ventilation. Looped tabs of material are provided on the front of the waist for attachment of lanyards. Each bulgy pocket on chest and lower front of jacket has an internal carabiner for attachment of lanyards and items. Bulgy pockets and storm baffle on the front of the jacket are all secured with large 2.5cm diameter taped buttons. A central zipper is located underneath the central baffle to close the jacket. The jacket is constructed with minimal use of metal parts. The fabric of the jacket body is quiet with parts of the fabric rubbing together being constructed of the cotton polyester blend. The jacket is cut larger to allow for wearing of mid-layers beneath. Sizes available are: S (38in), M (41in), L (45in), XL (48in).
