A single inert round in the popular central European hunting calibre of 8x57 JRS. The 8x57 calibre is one of the earliest rounds to use smokeless nitrocellulose powders, designed in 1888, and subsequently, it because the main rifle round of the Imperial German Army. 8x57 JRS differs from the military round because it has a rim at the base, and this would be used to prevent the round from dropping too far into the chamber in a Drilling or combination gun which also has a pair of shotgun barrels. Early 8x57R rounds would have been fitted with a smaller .318 inch diameter round nose bullet, but after 1905, 8x57 JRS rounds would have been fitted with a wider .323 inch diameter spire point bullet. These are modern cases, and have the wider bullet fitted. Primer has been fired and is indented. Perfect for a collection of European hunting cartrdiges. Cases are brass. Please note that all rounds have no propellant or live primers. This is a deactivated 8x57 JRS bullet. To restore a shiny finish, rub the cartridge with toothpaste or a commercial cleaner. Please note that price is for ONE round only. NB: All inert ammunition travelling OUTSIDE mainland UK must be shipped by international courier (eg TNT, DHL).
A selection of headstamps. Due to limited supply, it is not possible to guarantee an exact factory headstamp.
The size of the round compared to a coin.
