A rarely available calibre, developed in 1988 by renowned Gun World editor, Dean Grennell, to offer a huge 25% increase in explosion pressure in a package that would fit into the widespread and commonly available .45 ACP handgun and rifle platforms. Once developed, Heckler and Koch and Smith and Wesson manufactured handguns with uprated chambers, heavier recoil springs and stronger firing pins that accept .45 SUPER cartridges straight out of the box. Experiments with lighter weight bullet heads have also resulted in faster muzzle velocities. Genuine .45 SUPER cases remained the preserve of niche and wildcat manufacturers, and only Starline mass manufactures in limited runs due to the specialised formulation of brass required to contain the gas pressures safely. Rounds are fitted with a 225gr grooved, jacketed hollow point bullet head. Price is for one round only. Rounds may be polished with light polishing compound or toothpaste. Rounds must be sent with courier. Extras available for this dummy round: An new and unindented brass cup to fit into the primer pocket to give the appearance of a new, unfired round: Large Dummy Primer Removal of the deactivated, inert primer from the round, leaving a hole or holes in the base that can be inspected to prove the round is inert and free from explosives: Depriming of Round
The size of the round compared to a coin.
